Our Community Allotment Project.
Get involved in growing fresh food while connecting with your community.
Gardening can bring communities together, spread the importance of local conservation and be incredibly rewarding. So, we are very pleased that Leigh Parish Council has kindly provided the society with an allotment plot where we hope to involve the whole community in growing fresh fruit and vegetables - and even herbs and flowers! We have already started clearing the plot in preparation for the Spring. Contact us if you would like to get involved.
Planting Trees and Crocus
The Committee is working together with Leigh Apple Press to support the planting of trees on the allotment area. Last year, L&DCGS Members planted crocus on the village green and surrounding area and when the Spring came, visitors entering and leaving the village enjoyed a lovely display of daffodils and crocus. This year we plan to increase the numbers of crocus. Look out for planting dates for both the trees and crocus in our newsletters and website.
