Newdigate Horticultural Society - November Talk
’The Plight of the Bumblebee’
Tuesday 28th November at 7pm in Newdigate Village Hall
Honeybees often get the headlines as the most threatened pollinators while in fact they are not under threat at all - unlike our Bumblebees. We look at some of the fascinating but little-known facts about Bumblebees as well as what we can do to help them.
Our speaker is Peter Smith - a beekeeper, amateur entomologist, writer and speaker. He says: "My talks are designed to inform, entertain and amuse (not necessarily in that order) and are aimed at everyone with an interest in the natural world. I try to improve the awareness of some of the problems faced by our native pollinators and offer practical suggestions on what we can do to help them. I also work closely with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.”
Tickets: £5 members / £6 non-members, including refreshments
Tickets available in advance from Susie Smith - susie@greenstonemd.com or on the door (though it would be good to know in advance if possible)
